All the experienced travelers associate Iran with the ancient architecture, sky-blue domes, lacy ornate lettering on the walls, precious fabrics, shiny jewelry and gorgeous silk carpets. Iran is a very attractive, hospitable and at the same time stern country, which consists of the great historical heritage, amazingly beautiful natural landscapes, delicious cuisine and unique objects of the national art.

Tehran is the capital of Iran, which is also considered its main economic, cultural and political center and the largest city of the country.

The Persian language is considered the official language of Iran and which is spoken by the biggest part of its population. Nevertheless, there are some minority languages that are also used on the territory of the country, such as Kurdish, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Georgian, Arabic, Turkic, Luri, Turkmen and etc.

The landscape is rather diverse with the rain forests in the north, the desert in the east and the mountains in the west. Due to the huge number of mountains, especially in the West of the country, Iran is considered nowadays one of the most mountainous country in the whole world, which includes the Zagros, Caucasus, Alborz Mountains and, of course, the Mount Damavand, which has the height of about 5, 600 meters and is considered the highest point of Iran.

The dress code is very strict in the country, so it’s forbidden for men to wear short-sleeved shirts and any ankle-deep trousers – hands and legs should be completely covered. Women should also wear high-necked clothes, absolutely covering their hands, shoulders and legs. It’s also strictly required for women to cover their heads while walking around the streets or visiting public places.

And one more useful note for all the photography lovers: it’s forbidden to take pictures of military or governmental buildings and local citizens may be photographed only from their permission.
